GDPR & COPPA Compliance
Our Commitment to Privacy, Safety, and Children’s Protection
At MumGuardian, protecting privacy—especially the privacy of children—is central to how our platform is designed and operated. We follow a privacy-first, minimal-data approach, ensuring children can learn safely without unnecessary data collection or tracking.
We are committed to complying with applicable data protection and child-safety regulations, including:
- UK GDPR & EU GDPR
- UK Data Protection Act 2018
- UK Age-Appropriate Design Code
- COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act – USA)
This page explains how we meet these standards.
GDPR governs how personal data must be handled in the UK and European Union. MumGuardian applies GDPR principles across the entire platform.
Key GDPR Principles We Follow
- Lawfulness, Fairness & Transparency: We clearly explain what limited personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. Full details are available in our Privacy Policy.
- Purpose Limitation: Personal data is collected only to operate accounts (Parents and Schools) and provide access to educational resources.
- Data Minimisation: We collect the minimum data necessary. No personal data is collected or stored for children.
- Accuracy: Users can update or correct their information at any time.
- Storage Limitation: Personal data is retained only for as long as required to operate accounts or meet legal obligations.
- Integrity & Confidentiality: We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption, access controls, and secure infrastructure.
Under GDPR, users have the right to:
- Access their personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of their data
- Restrict or object to processing
- Withdraw consent where applicable
Requests can be made by contacting [email protected].
COPPA applies to online services used by children under 13 in the United States. MumGuardian fully complies with COPPA by not collecting children’s personal information at all.
How MumGuardian Complies with COPPA
- No Collection of Children’s Personal Data: We do not collect, store, or process personal information from children. No names, emails, ages, identifiers, or behavioural data are stored. No analytics, profiling, or tracking is applied to child usage.
- Parental Control by Design: Parents create access credentials for their child. Child access is anonymous and session-based. Parents remain fully responsible for supervision.
- No Public Interaction: No chat rooms, messaging, public profiles, or social features.
- No Advertising or Marketing to Children: No targeted advertising, behavioural tracking, or data monetisation.
Because no child personal data is collected, verifiable parental consent mechanisms under COPPA are not required, while parental oversight is still enforced by platform design.
MumGuardian is intentionally built to reduce risk:
- ✅ No child accounts stored in databases
- ✅ No learning progress or behavioural tracking
- ✅ No student profiling
- ✅ No cookies for children
- ✅ No third-party trackers applied to child access
Teachers and schools access teaching materials only and do not create or manage student records.
We believe children should be able to learn online without being monitored, profiled, or tracked.
MumGuardian:
- Does not sell data
- Does not track children
- Does not store child information
- Does not use data for advertising
- Is built around safety, ethics, and trust
